june,

He never stopped. As soon as the SC struck the original plan down he started the longer process. It’s been in motion the whole time.

june,

It’s more than “pointing out simple facts”. It’s an onslaught of ‘he’s not doing enough’ or ‘yea but look at what he did before’ and absolutely ignoring the fact that what he’s doing now is in the right direction.

I’m sick of all of the ‘yea buts’ I keep seeing in the comments rather than credit where credit is due. I gave Trump credit when he did the right thing, and Biden is due the same. It’s ok, good even, to be critical, but this isn’t criticism, it’s cynicism.

june,

Did you forget he started another legal process that is underway and takes time to complete?

june,

Not to mention plan b is still in the works

A German state is ditching Windows and Microsoft Office for Linux and LibreOffice on the 30,000 PCs it uses for local government functions (www.theregister.com)

Schleswig-Holstein, Germany’s most northern state, is starting its switch from Microsoft Office to LibreOffice, and is planning to move from Windows to Linux on the 30,000 PCs it uses for local government functions....

june,

I hired an accountant to do my taxes this year and her company had just switched to Libre Office and she, a boomer, could t figure out how to open a fucking CSV with it. She kept complaining about it just being a string of numbers and letters.

I resorted to providing her with PDFs instead.

june,

No fucking clue

june,

Yea I’m calling Cantwell today, this is bullshit. She’s usually pretty solidly on the right side of things but this is ass backwards.

june,

I always thought it was weird that the evolution of humans led to us being giant axolotl‘s.

june,

I almost bought puts.

Realized I lack the knowledge.

So I chose not to.

june,

Yea I have no idea how they work so probably. 😅

june,

This is why I don’t play in options, I can never keep them straight. I apparently meant I considered shorting the stock.

And those of us with poor parents, or who are estranged from our parents, or who otherwise have some barrier between us and our parents either have to bootstrap our ways to survival or die.

I wish I had married someone rich instead of the daughter of two school teachers. But I’m lucky she had generous rich extended family that gave us enough to buy the house I now own before we divorced.

Now I’m unemployed after being laid off 3 months ago with no safety net and no strong prospects for work that will keep me in the house, even with a roommate paying rent. I have nowhere to go and no one to support me if I lose the house.

june,

Most of the ‘Boeing things’ we’ve been hearing about have been maintenance issues. Even the initial blowout was a mix of Boeing and maintenance.

june,

These folks are losing their insurance. But even those of us who live in safe areas with little to no history or indicators of disaster are still seeing rates skyrocket. Mine were raised 30% this year and I have no risk of flooding or wildfire, and very low risk of storm or earthquake damage. Crime in my neighborhood is the lowest in the region (kind of surprising considering it’s very working class mixed with lots of low income housing), and has no history of damage to the property at all. But still, 30% hike with no reason given. My car insurance jumped 25% too.

june,

Yea, they really are a throuple.

I do wonder how insurance works for them too, are they treated like two individuals or do they get the benefit of having a single body and are treated as an individual?

june,

I’m a different person, but it’s the first time I’ve heard the term used. /shrug

june,

It’s not creeping on the women though. They’re there for the explicit purpose of being ogled, just like strippers at a strip joint.

june,

They all work in heated coffee stands, with a few actual shops around. Though the shops are few and far between. I’ve only ever seen 2.

june,

I think sleazy is a fair description. I just don’t see it as creeping, which I interpret to be without consent.

For profit healthcare is a bane on society. Health shouldn’t be profit driven.

june,

I think there’s damage done by the woo (see: Steve Jobs as a high profile version of that) and we shouldn’t just ignore that. But the difference is that it boils down to those folks choosing the woo over science for themselves. The right wing anti choicers are trying to make the choice for other people.

june,

Have you considered a NUC?
